Burauen is one of the biggest towns in Leyte which the Spanish friars discovered as a settlement on the lat 16th century when they used the community as one of the home bases of their Christianization campaigns in the central part of Leyte.

Objective -

To attain the development vision of Burauen the following objectives are set:

 

1. To create, raise and internalize the interrelatedness of population, resources and environment at the family level, especially among the youth;

2.  To provide and deliver optimum basic health services to the community;

3.  To uplift the living conditions and improve the quality of life of the poorest sector of the population through its various programs and services designed to enable them to become self-reliant and contribute to national development;

4.   To increase revenues through improvement of real properties;

5.   To increase real income of farmers in the different barnagay in the municipality through crop production, animal production, inland fishery and other livelihood program and attain self-sufficiency for every farm family;

6.   To promote social justice through equitable distribution of material wealth;

7.   To legislate local laws for the promotion of public welfare;

8.   To encourage good urban and rural design, to improve the appearance of the community that will enhance the aesthetic qualities and reflect the beauty and attractiveness of the community.

 



Mandate - Mandate

Vission Statement -

As elicited in the visioning and public consultant process participated in by the municipal constituencies and/or stakeholders, the following are the statement of intention as guided by the vision of the municipality.

  1.  To maximize the use of natural/land resources, minimize natural hazards, improve          solid    waste disposal and promote environmental stability.
  2. To maintain the municipality’s slow population growth rate and low dependency ratio as well as lower its unemployment rate;
  3. To diversify the local economy, introduce labor-intensive industries and promote comparative advantage in vegetable, , abaca, and coconut products;
  4. To increase infrastructure facilities such as water supply, telecommunication facilities and drainage system;
  5. To increase municipal income through enhanced tax revenue source and collection;
  6. To lower the town’s morbidity and mortality rates.

 



Mission Statements - By the year 2015 and beyond, a progressive Burauen shall emerge. It shall be an agro industrial community where people live healthy and productive, lives under an atmosphere of responsive and dynamic governance with equitable and viable economy in a peaceful and responsive society respecting ecological balance to attain sustainable development
